    ATI was the architect of record and prime design consultant for the design of the Vocational Education Building located at the Western Correctional Institution in Cumberland, Maryland. The building achieved LEED SILVER certification from USGBC. ATI also provided full physical/electronic security design services for this facility.
    The project involved the design and construction of a 26,000 SF building with programs spaces for hands on training, educational and administrative support services. The major training programs that will be offered are: Welding Technology, Printing/Graphic Shop, Cabinet/Mill Work, Culinary Arts, Desk Top Publishing and Facility Maintenance.
    The mission of the facility is to provide training and self-improvement opportunities for inmates via a vocational training program proposed by the MD Department of Education. The Training Center was added to the existing Support Services building at WCI and located within the secure compound of the Institution adjacent to the west perimeter fence and emergency sallyport.
