The facility was designed and constructed in two separately contracted phases and operate independently of each other.
Each phase of the Dorsey Run Correctional Institution consists of two 33,000 SF dormitory buildings and an 8,000 SF support services building. The support services building included offices; commercial kitchen and dining; storage; medical/dental suite; and security control room. The two mirrored DRCF phases together total 1024 beds with two separate support buildings and all associated site work, parking, utilities and security systems, and cost approximately $53M to construct.
In addition to being the Architect of Record, ATI also designed all security systems including CCTV, door controls, perimeter fences, lighting, fence detection, sally ports and BOSS (electronic contraband detection system) buildings. All six buildings are LEED Silver certified.
