Overview of the project
ATI’s Architectural Division provided services for a design-build renovation of the Fort Meade DPW building for American Waters. The existing historic 20,000 SF building was renovated to include the administrative, lab and storage spaces for American Waters. The building was fully operational during the renovation, as this building provides drinking water to Fort Meade. This $4M construction cost project involved the following main components:
  1. Offices
  2. Laboratory for water testing
  3. Conference rooms
  4. Lounge/Kitchen
  5. Extensive Exterior Brick restoration work.
  6. New energy efficient windows.
  7. New roof for the building
  8. New mechanical and electrical systems design/New elevator.
  9. Dehumidification system for the entire building.
Result / Impact
The project involved close coordination with Maryland Historic Trust for all the exterior work including new windows, brick cleaning/pointing, new mechanical equipment and new exterior doors, as well as heavy coordination with MD DPW and USACE.
