Overview of the project

Demonstrating historic cooperation: as the primary subcontractor, DGI provided digitization and data entry services to support ATI, Inc.’s prime contractor FUDS records management efforts, for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Districts within the North Atlantic Division.

DGI and ATI personnel provided document collection support by traveling to USACE New England District Offices and surrounding record storage locations for document collection, as well as on-site scanning services. ATI personnel operated high speed scanning stations to complete all digitization of hard copy records and quality review of electronic files to ensure best available copies of images were processed and uploaded to the online FUDS Docs system. Optical character recognition was performed on electronic images and large records are bookmarked to generate searchable, navigable document images. ATI supported data entry tasks by providing objective-level coding of information including date, page count, and author/recipient information for project exclusion records to ensure a complete record of collected documents is maintained. Additionally, ATI supported the return of processed documents by finalizing hard copy documents and reorganizing boxes for efficient on-site filing.

Result / Impact

ATI’s work on this contract is invaluable in digitizing, organizing and making available online a comprehensive catalog of decades of documents related to the FUDS program in a modern database. We search warehouses and other physical storage locations to find all relevant documents and ensure that all unique documents are digitized, optimized and catalogued in a secure, searchable, accessible online database that meets USACE requirements.
